For Jamaicans who want to travel or love to travel, understanding the Visa requirements for a country can get overwhelming. Actually, it can get downright difficult sometimes because as you know…in some cases there is a lack of information. Few weeks ago when my business partner and I were planning to go to Dubai, we almost never bothered due to the difficulty in understanding the requirements to go and also when and where to apply.
I called as far as the Cuban Embassy in Cuba as that was where my inquiry lead me on one of the occassions; that turned out to be a disaster..imagine a Jamaican who doesn’t speak Spanish with a Cuban who doesn’t speak English. Our next inquiry led us to the global village…the internet…there were so many avenues, we had no idea which was legitimate and which was a scam. Eventually after hours of search we figured it out. This is one of the main reason why we have decided to start the Jamaica Visa Centre.
Anyhow…when travelling as a Jamaican there are several factors to consider! I will attempt to list them here:
- Whether Visa is required to enter into the country and what are the requirements to apply for that Visa
- If No Visa is required, are there any other requirements such as a Tourist Card or Travel Insurance as in the case of Cuba
- Ok, so No Visa, No Tourist Card, are there any other requirements at the Point of Entry, as in the case of Armenia
- Where can I travel with a Visa I already have, For instance, if I have a US, Canadian or Shengen Visa, where can I travel to as in the case of Costa Rica
- Lastly, Intransit: your destined country may not require a visa, but are you transiting through a country that requires a visa. In some countries, transiting for a certain number of hours do not require a visa as in the case of Cayman.
Reading that list may confuse anyone reading so I have decided to do this article: Jamaicans Who Travel in a 5-part series. At the end of all 5 articles, I will create one big article that summarizes all that info and create a virtual directory that you may review at anytime to get all the details for visa requirements. Our sister company Jamaica Visa Centre provides a service to apply for all visa or tourist cards. You will be able to apply for your travel insurance and your get all your itineraries required for your visa application.
Additionally, I want to mention that Expressionz Travels will always be there to plan that amazing vacation for you with “Vacay Your Way” . Expressionz Travels will provide all the guidance for your destined country. Traveling no longer has to be a dream and you no longer have to visit familiar countries. Step out in the world and explore.
